Major von Schertel

When I made the all action Empire battalions I decided not to bother making mounted officers, probably due to laziness.

The other day I was looking through some old photographs and realised that the Hessian officers for regiment Ditfurth could double up for regiment Varel (Empire) Photos 1 & 2. Some readers may have seen Ditfurth many years back in the magazine Wargames Illustrated.

Blue uniforms with yellow facings are a great combination and so I decided a mounted officer specific to Varel was a must. Yesterday I made Major von Schertel.

Another moment in time piece, leaning forward, standing in stirrups firing pistol. It will probably be classified as 'unrealistic', but as I say, this is model soldiers, so anything goes.

 

Big day tomorrow, the Austrian Horse Grenadiers are due to arrive.

Parcel arrived today with more wonderful 'Army of the Empire' flags from Mark. Who needs imaginations................
